Enhancing Workplace Safety: New Funding and Initiatives for California Businesses
$25 Million Boost to Protect California Workers
In the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires and ongoing worker safety concerns, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a new investment of $25 million to support workplace safety efforts. This funding will support education, outreach, and resources to protect workers in high-risk sectors—especially those affected by natural disasters.
Nearly $6 million will go directly to 21 Los Angeles-based community organizations to help train and inform workers on hazards, workplace rights, wage protection, and health protocols. This is part of California’s broader Workplace Outreach Project, aimed at ensuring all workers—including immigrants and temporary employees—are equipped with the knowledge to stay safe on the job.
National Safety Month: A Timely Reminder for Employers
With workplace safety taking center stage, the National Safety Council (NSC) is promoting National Safety Month this June, spotlighting themes like injury prevention, employee well-being, and road safety. Employers are encouraged to participate by accessing free safety resources and taking the opportunity to reevaluate their internal training, emergency preparedness, and safety culture.
